New Jersey Alliance of Family Support Organization's Leadership

Our Mission: To facilitate empowerment of parents and caregivers of children with emotional, behavioral, mental health, developmental and intellectual challenges through a community-based, family centered, culturally competent system of support, education, and advocacy.

Board of Directors consists of parent and caregivers of children with emotional and/or behavioral issues who are involved in the public system (Juvenile Justice, Division of Youth and Family Services, Mental Health or Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities) and Community Members.  Each Trustee shall serve for a term of three (3) years, with a maximum of two (2) three-year consecutive terms.

In 1999, New Jersey created a new system of care to provide quality services to children with mental, emotional, and behavioral health challenges AND their families. The beginning of this statewide rollout made national history. It was the first time any state had decided to fund a Family Support Organization in every county of the state.

New Jersey is the ONLY State that has 15 fully functioning Family Support Organizations providing support, education, and advocacy for any family throughout the ENTIRE State.

Across the state, we are recognized as a best-practice model, delivering real benefits to thousands of families through Statewide Family Support Organizations. Together, we will continue to make a lasting, positive impact.

At the heart of this mission is our Board of Directors. Their role is critical: guiding policy, shaping major decisions, and ensuring our vision becomes reality. Board meetings, held at least six times a year, are where strategy takes shape. Beyond that, every board member serves on a committee, driving progress in focused areas.
